If there is one thing I learned in life, is that time goes by so fast that you forget to look around and see all the beautiful things the world has to offer. Whenever I go somewhere, I always make a point to have a sundowner. It is one of the things I love to do the most, it relaxes me and gives me time to reflect on what is going on in my life and I get to share that special moment with the people that I love. I have had the privilege to travel through some parts of Namibia, from the north to the south and the coast.
I have come to realize that nature represents itself differently every time. In the north, you have these unbelievable sunsets, where the sun’s reflection glazes over the river as it sets. It makes you reflect back on your life and the days that pass.
At the coast, where the sun sets over the ocean, you see the birds fly by and you might even be lucky enough to see the dolphins swimming past and the waves makes its way to the shoreline. You realize just how lucky we are to have this type of freedom, breathing fresh air, putting your bare feet in the sand and walking along the beach. In the south, it is a complete different story, you get the Sossusvlei dunes and Zaris Mountains.
You have this never ending wide open spaces, which also gives you the sense of freedom but also you also realize that you can survive through anything if you believe. Looking at the animals that live there, where there are almost no trees, grass or flowing rivers and they still survive, they adapt to their environment. These are some of the reasons why sunsets inspire me to live life to the fullest, you have the time to see things that you normally don’t get to see and you appreciate it even more.
