Professor Mburumba Kerina, the man responsible for giving Namibia its name, is celebrating his wedding to Naomi Zauana this weekend in a 3-day traditional Herero wedding.
Professor Kerina, who will be 84 years old this June, spent many years petitioning at the UN for South West Africa to become an independent country.
The 3-day traditional wedding, which takes place on 5, 6 and 7 May will be well-attended, with many people wearing traditional Herero dress, the women in billowing long dresses and headdresses, and the men completing their outfits with hats and kieries. Well-known performers like Big Ben will be entertaining the guests, many of whom will camp on the farm near Aminius for the festivities.
We wish the Professor and his new wife much happiness and many blessings for the future.
Gondwana will be there. Watch this space for photographs, a video and updates of the event.
